Tuesday, 3. January 2023

Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by many of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not let the negative feedback from others kill his dream of being one of the best poker players on the planet.

He started playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an undying passion for poker. He says that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and always strives to improve.

Although Phil has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
