Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn everything he could about the game. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He started playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his success. Phil admits to making errors in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
