Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the last poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best gamblers around the world. While participating in web poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus often plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all in. I believe Hansen is an amazing poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has little or no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy-in.
Buying in for the min takes almost all of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amt.. I think television can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest players anywhere in the world might just be players you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be seen competing in online poker on Full Tilt. He commonly competes in big stakes omaha high and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash games?
