Fix Attention on Annie Duke
Friday, 29. November 2013
Mrs. Duke might not have won her first WSOP Bracelet until ‘04 but she is still one of the most powerful poker players at the cash matches at The Bellagio in Las Vegas. Annie’s long-overdue WSOP bracelet came with a win at the "buried game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.
While players from the "younger crowd" of poker go crazy following a huge win at the tournament, Annie heads home and becomes "mom" to her four kids. She was born in New Hampshire and raised into a family of card players. If you do not believe that, check out her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who educated her how to wager on the game.
However, Mrs. Duke is no small-potatoes girl and has won her share of difficult tables, which includes knocking out Howard a few times along the way. They’re both competitors that have the ability to acquire the big $$$$$ and do so with a smile.
Annie Duke is a strong player at any table because she is a legitimate poker player, but it is a little more than just being skilled at the game. Annie is extremely intelligent and graduated from Columbia University where she double majored in English and Psychology.
When you take a seat across from Annie at the poker table you’ll see Annie Duke is there to play the game and she begins "sizing" you up as soon as you sit down at the game table. If you can not play like a winner, then do not waste your time.
Winning over $3 million in tournament competitions, Mrs. Duke branched out to become a adviser to both the UltimateBet poker room and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who wanted to hone his skills and grow into a force at the poker table.
You may see her at the Bellagio, you will see her on television and you might even compete against her in a web poker match, but do not expect a simple win. Except of course you’re a champion-in-the-making, you won’t defeat her. However, it would be fun to say you played at the same table as "The Duke".
